Steel-Framed Family Houses

Custom-designed light steel structures for modern family homes

ADAY Hungary provides custom-engineered light steel frame solutions for family houses based on the architectural design and the specific requirements of each project.

The structural system is not based on predefined house types. Each steel frame is developed according to the building's geometry, spans, loads, number of storeys and architectural concept.

From structural engineering and digital modelling to precision manufacturing and assembly, the objective is simple: to create the steel structure around the building – not the building around the system.

Why Choose a Light Steel Frame for a Family House?

Light steel construction combines low structural weight with precise prefabrication and considerable architectural flexibility.

The structural elements are manufactured from galvanized steel using a cold-forming process. Because the structure is digitally designed before manufacturing, individual components can be produced with a high degree of dimensional accuracy and prepared for efficient on-site assembly.

Key advantages include:

  • low structural weight,
  • precise prefabrication,
  • fast structural assembly,
  • dry construction technology,
  • architectural flexibility,
  • efficient transportation and handling,
  • suitability for new houses as well as extensions and additional storeys.

Designed Around Your Architecture

A light steel house does not have to look like a “steel house”.

The structural system can be developed for a wide variety of architectural styles, layouts and roof forms. The steel frame forms the load-bearing structure of the building, while the final appearance is determined by the architectural design, façade, roofing, windows, finishes and other building components.

This means architects and clients can develop the house they want without being restricted to a catalogue of predefined models.

From Architectural Plans to a Manufactured Steel Structure

Each project begins with the architectural documentation and the requirements of the building.

The structural solution is then developed according to the project-specific geometry and loads. Digital modelling allows the individual components and connections to be coordinated before manufacturing.

Manufacturing data can then be transferred to automated roll-forming equipment, where the light steel profiles are formed, punched and cut according to the digital model.

Architectural Design → Structural Engineering → Digital Model → Manufacturing → Prefabrication → Assembly

Extensions and Additional Storeys

The relatively low weight of light steel structures can make the technology particularly useful for certain extensions, additional storeys and roof conversions.

Every existing building is different, however. The feasibility of an extension or additional storey must therefore be assessed according to the existing structure, foundations, loads and project-specific structural requirements.

Energy-Efficient Homes Require More Than a Steel Frame

The energy performance of a house is not determined by the structural frame alone.

Insulation, wall and roof build-ups, windows and doors, airtightness, thermal bridge solutions and building services all contribute to the final energy performance of the building.

For projects where the steel structure and building envelope are considered as an integrated solution, explore the ADAY Steel SIP system.

Every House Starts With a Project

There is no single standard steel structure suitable for every family house.

Building size, number of storeys, spans, roof geometry, openings, location and structural loads all influence the final solution. For this reason, meaningful project assessment starts with the architectural plans and basic project information.

If you already have drawings, send us your floor plans, sections, elevations or PDF documentation.

If your project is still at an early stage, you can contact us to discuss the possibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions About Steel-Framed Family Houses

Is a light steel frame suitable for a permanent family house?

Yes. Light steel framing can be used as the load-bearing structure of permanent residential buildings. The structural system is designed according to the geometry, loads and requirements of the individual project.

The steel frame itself is only one part of the complete building. Wall and roof build-ups, insulation, façade systems, windows, airtightness and building services are selected according to the required performance of the finished house.

Can I use my own architectural design?

Yes. ADAY light steel structures are not limited to predefined house models.

The structural system can be developed around the architectural design, taking into account the building geometry, spans, openings, roof form, number of storeys and project-specific structural requirements.

This allows architects and clients to develop individual homes rather than selecting from a fixed catalogue of steel houses.

How long does it take to build a light steel house?

There is no single construction time that applies to every project. The schedule depends on the size and complexity of the building, the level of prefabrication, the scope of work and site conditions.

One of the advantages of light steel construction is that structural components can be digitally designed and prefabricated before arriving on site. This can significantly reduce the amount of cutting, modification and structural work required during assembly.

Is a steel-framed house energy efficient?

It can be designed to achieve high levels of energy performance, but energy efficiency is not determined by the steel frame alone.

Insulation, wall and roof build-ups, windows and doors, airtightness, thermal bridge solutions and building services all influence the final performance of the house.

For projects where the structural frame and building envelope are developed as an integrated solution, see the ADAY Steel SIP System.

Will a light steel house rust?

The structural elements are manufactured from galvanized steel using a cold-forming process. The galvanized surface provides corrosion protection for the thin-walled steel profiles.

The durability of the complete structure also depends on correct design, detailing, construction and protection from inappropriate long-term exposure to moisture.

Can light steel framing be used for extensions or additional storeys?

Yes. Because of its relatively low structural weight, light steel framing can be particularly suitable for certain extensions, additional storeys and roof conversions.

However, the existing building must always be assessed individually. The existing structure, foundations and additional loads have to be considered as part of the structural design.

What information do you need to evaluate my project?

If architectural documentation is already available, send us the floor plans, sections, elevations and other relevant drawings, preferably in PDF format.

It is also useful to include the approximate floor area, number of storeys, project location and the scope of work you are interested in.

If the project is still at an early stage, you can contact ADAY Hungary to discuss the possibilities before the complete documentation is available.
